Hiya, folks. I'm taking a brief break from my latest addiction to write this, and let me tell you, I'm itching to go back. My well-intentioned boyfriend bought a couple of copies of Dungeon Keeper, a new game by BULLFROG. Let me take this moment to endorse this game as the most brilliant, enjoyable, impressive, fun, and beautifully crafted sim game I have ever seen.

Hiya Lady J, I've got a roomate question for you. I am a 31 year old male who lives with a 25 year old female roommate. Well we have always kept things on a platonic level until recently when we both got a little drunk and ended up in the sack together (which wasn't a problem with me) however she now feels that we should take some sort of commited step towards a relationship, but I am just not ready for that step. Well now she feels embarrassed and wants to move out. Is there a way I can go about getting her to stay because I still think she is a terrific person and roommate ??

Thanks
BAT

It can be damn near impossible to maintain a platonic relationship after sex, especially with a roommate. She doesn't seem to want to try, which makes it even more damn near impossible.

See, loss of control is a very hard thing to overcome. The two of you lost control and had sex when you got drunk. She embraced that loss of control as serendipity at first, and wanted to move ahead in the same vein. She hoped you felt the same. When you didn't, she further felt the lack of control, and it became too much for her. The only way she feels she can gain back what she lost, or even hope to recover, is to take control of her life again, and make a big decision, removing herself from the source of discomfort. If she stayed, she would probably always feel a little uncomfortable. You saw her naked, both literally and figuratively. Fleeing is really probably the only option she thinks she has.

I really cannot advise you to do much of anything except discuss it openly and frankly with her and hope for the best. Tell her how much she means to you, and tell her that you realize what strength it would take for her to stay. Make staying there seem as attractive an offer as possible. Whatever you do, however, don't you dare lead her on. If you lead her on, I shall have to find you and gouge out your eyeballs with dirty flatware.

Born and raised in NYC, LadyJ developed a quick wit and an acid tongue to entertain her friends, and cut down those foolish enough to oppose her.

This abrasiveness earned her a reputation as a heartless bitch in some circles, but those closest to her still believe she has a great capacity for understanding and caring, and a talent for advice.

On this website, LadyJ offers herself both to help those who ask her advice, and to entertain those who find her humorous. Those who fall into neither category are leftovers, and we all know that no one likes leftovers.

So, if you have a problem that you need help with, and the courage to accept her advice...

Ask LadyJ!
